List,

mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!
oy, am I a klutz or what?

Also almond oil sound good, I will try it.
Olive is a little too heavy, but it does soak into the wood so nicely and
evenly.

Call me obsessive, but isn't there also a way to protect pad when oiling?
Personally I like to take small pieces of wax paper and place them under a
closed
key, this way if any oil does dribble or even migrate toward the pads, the
wax
paper will serve sufficiently as a buffer or dam.

All this takes time and care, but as we all undoubtedly know, the more we
love
and care of a prized thing, either an old vintage car which we restore, or a
clarinet,
oboe or basson we adore, it is the time and effort we put into keeping the
thing
beautiful and in good working order that is rewarded with longevity.

I will however never dispute that entropy plays a big role in all of this
too.
And Murphy's Law is true no matter how well you manage to take care of
anything.

But I am sorry for ruffling feathers, as a newbie, I just thought I would
pipe in.
I am grateful to Aaron and Ormondtoby for their advice.

I will learn from this experience.

Peace,

Rommel
