A very odd and interesting interpretation is the Vienna State Opera
Orchestra under Herman Scherchen...the bassets here are very prominent.
It's on MCA MILLLENIUM Classics and is quite inspired in places.

It is also very Different from Herbert Karajans and is quite nicely sung
too!
