The question remains a metalurgic one.
We all know that metals of any alloy will expand and contract with heat and
cold respectively,
but how does one "shrink" the metal rather than crimp it?

I will reiterate that the best method I have personally dealt with though
is the use of an organic bore oil which unlike saliva (that penetrates the
wood, but does nothing to norish it).

If you have any questions about the veracity of this method just ask Larry
Naylor at:

or by e-mail at: larry@-----.com

His article: "Grenadilla Wood, Environmental Effects and Organic Bore Oil"
is a must read if you are serious about keeping your clarinet in top playing
condition for the present and many, many years to come.

I am sorry if I ruffle feathers by suggesting this, but why would you want
to subject your instrument to unnecessary tech visits when the problem can
be rectified through the use of swabbing the bore with an organic oil?
