It's fun to follow this discussion. I just got to perform this piece a week
ago Sunday. Last time I played it was in........1969....YIKES!

Funny thing. I had a very hard time persuading the conductor to do this
piece -- so -- we did it conductorless! Had a blast. Luckily all the musicians
were pros and had plenty of chamber music experience, so we got through it well.
