Yes, I never saw that. Great! And given what you go on to say about the
abbreviation convention, it could well mean that we should play that b-flat
as two quarter notes.

I can live with that, and even use it to good effect!

I think this is less likely. It's less likely musically, I feel; and in fact
it looks to me as though those dots belong to the basset horn part, as they
do two bars later.

But anyway, bravo Dan!

(And I'd be very interested to see your response to my other post about
K388.)
