Dear List,

I've found myself in a situation where I am helping a student who is
playing Eb with an HS* Selmer mouthpiece. I've never dealt with Selmer
mouthpieces (on clarinet, at least) and I'm trying to determine where the
HS* falls in terms of tip opening.

If I'm reading my tables correctly
(http://www.selmer.fr/html/english/claribas/claris/bec/bec.htm), the HS* is
the most closed Eb mouthpiece Selmer makes. It seems to be more closed than
the Vandoren 5RV I typically recommend to students (HS* .95mm versus 5RV
1.065mm).

This assumes I'm reading my handy Vandoren mouthpiece chart correctly, so I
appeal to the list for a sanity check. I would also be interested in any
opinions on the Selmer HS* Eb mouthpiece.

Thanks,

-Adam
