I only compared the pitch of the playback to the piano in my studio, and
the rise wasn't precisely a semitone. Someone could log on again to the
Edison website, play back the Stars and Stripes, and check the actual
pitch with a tuner. At the moment, I have neither the time nor the
inclination to go into this. I only noticed that the recording seemed
very tinny and seemed to be even more treble dominated than such early
recordings usually are.
