152 does seem a bit brisk (= British understatement for a bit too
quick!). I've played it at about 140 (and I struggled), but if the
conductor wants it at 152 then he will have to accept that it will
probably sound pretty rough - it's his call! There are other pitfalls
that will probably sound bad too if he goes too fast: the offbeat
section in the middle will probably either catch up to the beat or fall
behind on to the next, and page turns become more difficult for some
parts too. But it could (it is just about possible) sound very
exhilarating if it goes well.
