Rob,

Rather than spend $75 on a junk plastic clarinet, why don't
you practice on your daughter's plastic horn at first? You have
your own mouthpiece, right?

And then if you feel you want to continue playing, and you want
to play a wood clarinet, you can show the two wooden horns
to someone locally who knows clarinets, they can look them
over and tell you which is the better made horn and you can have
that one overhauled. A few clarinets lessons would be a great
idea too.

You should be able to list the other one back on ebay and get
some of your money back.

I would look at those mouthpieces that came with the two old
horns, sometimes those things are worth more than the clarinets
they come with (most of the time they are not, but you never know)....
Do they have any markings one them, and what kind of shape are
they in? Even if they are nothing rare or valuable, if they are in
good condition you can list them on ebay separately and get a
little something for them....this can go towards paying for the
overhaul.
