Sidney Forrest used to use string when he studied with Bellison, and he
showed me and I used it successfully for quite a while.
Only difference to the web site that I learned is to start with a loop =
at
bottom, wrap from top to bottom, secure string thru loop by pulling free =
end
from top.

I know there must be a special way of tying the string, but since I =
don't=20
use string and never have, I can only speculate on how to tie it. There =
is=20
a way that I think would be acceptable. It is a lash knot (I think that =
is=20
what it is called). There is a picture of how it is tied at=20
http://www.woodwind.org/clarinet/Uploads/strnglig.html. It is a very =
easy=20
knot to tie, even though it doesn't especially look like it in the=20
pictures. I run a swimming pool as a day job and when I need to clamp=20
things together for repair and don't have clamps, I use this=20
"lashing". Quite effective. I hope that helps answer your question, =
since=20
there haven't been any other responses.
