I played the Mozart and Bruch concertos on the same concert last year and
did the rest of the program, too, because of the fact that there are
generally only two of us in the clarinet section. We did bring in a sub 2nd
to play the Bruch, though. The orchestra did pay me an "artist fee", on top
of my regular pay. That's our policy, even with orchestral soloists.
