So try string. Get a piece of rubber to go around the back of your
mouthpiece and a piece of string. How to tie one on and how long the string
should be has been discussed here. (check archives) I think it is the
cheapest option - next to staying with what you have ($0 more than you are
currently spending).

Yeah; I heard that some of the best German
clarinetists swore by using a piece of string to hold
their reeds on. That's what made me a little leery of
the really expensive high tech ligatures.
