Charles Mackerras arranged the Pineapple Poll Suite for orchestra. W. J.
Duthoit arranged four items from the Mackerras suite for band. These four
are on the Mercury CD 434 322-2 recorded in 1959 by Frederick Fennell with
the Eastman Wind Ensemble. This series of recordings by Fennell and the
Eastman group were state of the art stereo at the time and are still highly
regarded and available. The second movement, "Jasper's Dance", is included
and, as far as I can see on my Eb part, has the only Eb solo in the work.
This is a superb recording and includes works by Rossini/Respighi, Gounod
and Wagner. Hearing the original stereo LP of this about 1960 was what
convinced me that stereo was more than a gimmick and worth having for
serious music listening.

Another work with a fine Eb part is the "Quartetto" by Ponchielli. This is
for flute, oboe, Bb clarinet and Eb clarinet with either piano or orchestral
accompaniment. I don't know what is currently available, but the recording
on Accord 220682, with piano, is excellent.
