I had the surgery on my right wrist about three years ago, after suffering
from CTS for about 20 years. I waited that long, because I was afraid of
harm to my playing. The surgery was a great success, with a very short
recovery time. I actually played a concert two days after the surgery!
Generally the procedure is not terribly long lasting and sometimes has to be
repeated. My left hand is affected somewhat, but doesn't cause problems
playing. The same surgeon fixed a trigger finger in my right hand, too.
