There was no psychology to my statement about the title. Rather,
if one translates the title from Russian into English, the
correct translation is not "Overture on Hebrew Themes." It is
"Overture on Yiddish Themes." When Prokofiev wrote it that is
the title he gave it, but somehow it was considered
inappropriate, so it became fancified. Find an edition printed
in Russian and ask someone to translate the title for you.

I know I'm not Dan, but.... Hebrew refers to music written in
Israel,
which has a different feel and flavour to music written in the
Yiddish
language. Yiddish was the Jewish language of the Diaspora and
often has
a feeling of pathos, yearning and sadness at not being in the
beloved
land of their forefathers. Hebrew music is written by a free,
strong
and happy people in their own land.
