Dan, I have a pair of bi-focals for orchestra, the music stand focal lenght
is a small half oval inset in the middle of the frame. I highly recommend
the "executive style" where the bottom half is for the music and the top is
for the conductor. The half oval inset on mine isn't quite big enough to
track from the bottom of one page to the top of the next. Do take a music
stand to the optometrists to make sure you get the right prescription and
make sure you get the "line" in the right spot. I tried the transition lens
to be very disorienting and got rid of them but in all fairness I hated them
all the time and not just while reading music.
