Like Dan Leeson, I have been using upside down bifocals for many years. My
optometrist works with me on these, as I bring in a stand and music. Once I
even brought the clarinet to serenade the staff! As I age, my distance
vision has improved, a pretty common thing. A couple of weeks ago I picked
up a couple pairs of $12 +2 diopter half size reading glasses on a lark. I
find that they work better than my expensive custom glasses. Sure, the
conductor is a bit blurry, but aren't they all? I don't look at them if I
don't have to.
Unsightly? Well, I should never!!....................
