Speaking of bad or rank smells,
I recently bought a Buffet E-11 (c.1988) from Clarinuts,
and when it arived, I opened the case only to be greeted
with a smell which resembled stinky old cigarettes.

Now, could this case have been a jazz clarinetist's piece?
Or maybe the guy was a chain smoker? If so, I guess his
circular breathing was shot to h-ll.

Any ideas for ridding the velvet-lined case of this rankerous
odor? I'd really like to know because the smell kind of puts me
off to the clarinet itself, which does however provide a beautiful
tone.

Not ever having smoked, I hope some of you out there can apprecaite
my sensitivity and aversion even to second hand smoke residue.

Especially considering that our luns are so vital to the music we make
on a clarinet.

Shalom

Looking for a good teacher too in B'more.
