It is with the greatest sadness that I send news of the passing of Herb
Blayman. Herb was the Principal Clarinetist of the Metropolitan Opera
Orchestra for better than 30 years. He passed away last night at the
Mayview Nursing Home in Raleigh, North Carolina.

I knew him as teacher, mentor, colleague and friend with a relationship
that spanned some 45 years.
The clarinet world has lost one of it's greats............the world has
lost a wonderful human being.
