You might also find it interesting to check out the modified Boehm
system instruments that some of the small German manufacturers are
making---e.g. Schwenk und Siggelke and Johanna Kronthaler. My teacher
in Denmark had some experience of these and had suggested that they were
superior to e.g. the Reform-Boehm system, and a very good meld of the
fingering ease of the Boehm system combined with the tonal qualilties of
German instruments.

Having tried his Kronthaler clarinets, I found that they were superb---a
frustrating experience for me, having just bought an excellent French A
clarinet, only to discover that these instruments were *even better*. :-P
