I can't take Humidity at all. (Mark Charette can attest to that one -
I just about melted at ClarFest last year :) Couldn't imagine
living in a place like the Philippines.

Wow....talk about extreme conditions. I've dealt with that while
traveling,
but never in one spot. I remember seeing and meeting Al Ascercion
around
1979-80 at a clinic, and heard him describe the fun of playing a wood
clarinet and living in the Philippines. He was using a crystal
mouthpiece
and told someone that was because the heat and humidity in the
Philippines
caused hard rubber mouthpieces to have warped tables and the
accompanying
problems, so crystal was a more stable material.

There are products for stringed instruments that use a desiccant to
help
remove moisture, and a dehumidifier I think would be a must if
available.

Come to think of it...remembering recent posts about Mr. Abato, Al
performed
the Tchaikovsky violin concerto transcription in concert at that
clinic.
Double-tonguing and all.

air-condition one or two rooms to 25 degrees c as well as a lot drier.
