Dan and all,

Seems to me the discussion centers on the meaning of the word
"fled." Rascher made his living as a saxophonist. He therefore would have
had no job in Nazi Germany. He left for places where he could find
work. Seems rational to me. Is this "fleeing." Certainly not in the same
sense as the word applies to others who were in even more trouble, but
enough of a stimulus to satisfy me. So make that "only four reasons" (or
split hairs) (;
