On the other tack, is there no-one with access to a definitive biography of
Milhaud that can settle the stuff about 2pf/sax, which looks to me like
turning into *another* story about a 'legendary' player?
Tony
Tony,
This is why I, as a student, asked both Rascher and Milhaud about the piece. Rascher was clearly upset about "losing the autograph", and Milhaud said "My dear boy, it is so long ago, I just don't remember."
Both seemed to me at the time to have more information, and I have always suspected that there is MORE to this story!
I was cautious with both men in how I asked the questions because I suspected that there could be some strong emotion or upset somewhere behind the scenes. In both cases it SEEMED to me that I was being mis-led!
Kurt
