Curtis,

Many people prefer to buy a harder strength reeds and then work them down,
strength wise, to their own personal preference.

I've never known a player to play strength 5 reeds without working
extensively on them, but I'm sure there must be some. Also consider that a
strength 5 reed, as is, would require a very closed mouthpiece.
