Perhaps someone, or even Mr. Galper, can shed light on a fingering Galper
suggests in his book Tone, Technique and Staccato. I've written to the
publisher and they stated they didn't know, but they forward the question on
to Mr Galper.

In exercise 1, we are in G major, and the notes are chalameaux. The notation
under the first B is for the right index and sliver key fingering. Why? I
don't think it is a pitch consideration for there is only 1 cent difference
in the fingerings (on my R13). What is the rationale? Certainly seems
awkward.

Here are the notes:
G(1) D C B* G(2) D C B

The * indicates where the recommended fingering is index plus sliver. Why
would he recommend that?
