I doubt that anyone takes glee in discussing situations where US (and
allied) soldiers stand in harm's way.

Secondly, leaders must ALWAYS be accountable, perhaps especially in times of
war. Many (not all) otherwise moral and upright German citizens stood mute
when Hitler was committing excesses that later outraged the entire civilized
world.

I will say right now, that I am not comfortable with many provisions of the
"Patriot Act" and I am deeply concerned that due process is refused for so
many. Once due process disappears, a police state emerges. I know that in many
ways, we are under attack from individuals with a totally different world-view
than we have.

But, shall we let them have the victory, if we voluntarily change our
freedoms and values in response?

Democracy demands that we speak out. Those that do not speak out get the
government that they deserve.

Wow....two non-clarinet posts in one day...what's happening to me?
