A piece I think would work for alto clarinet (for a monster player, anyway)
is Scaramouche by Milhaud. This was originally for alto saxophone but
Milhaud did a clarinet version in which the changes were (mostly?) shifting
phrases around by octaves. If you took the alto sax version and did
something similar I think you would have something viable (and wouldn't
have to do any other transposition for the piano part to work).
