Being at war does not absolve a president from criticism. In fact, that =
he claims we are at war is a big part of the reason many criticize him =
and our country. Supposedly we invaded Iraq because they were a =
terrorist threat (evidence to the contrary). Terrorism is occurring all =
around the world, yet other countries do not use the state of being "at =
war" to manipulate the emotions and feelings of their people, or to pass =
sweeping new laws that governmental agencies and contractors can use to =
their advantage rather than for true benefit to the people. By declaring =
war on terrorism we have elevated terrorists to a sovereign status, =
which is not a good idea, IMHO. They are international criminals, not a =
state.
