I just take everything with an implied "in my (not so) humble opinion".

Makes my life less stressful.

Amen.

Except learning from gone-tomorrow authorities is a pretty good place to
start one's journey towards "what works". I will admit my own frustration
with people who think this point is the end rather than the beginning of
the journey.

That, however, is their loss.
