An observation in regard to the recent list stats posted: Although the
number of subscribers has increased, I believe someone wondered why
there were not many more subscribers. I'm a relative newcomer to the
list, but there have been occasional posts of complete frustration
regarding the volume of mail and especially messages that were not
pertinent to clarinet topics. Even with a filter to send "klarinet"
messages to a separate mailbox, the amount of mail that this list
generates does require some management, and some people simply don't
have the time and patience to deal with it. For instance, I received 52
"klarinet" messages from Saturday afternoon until noon today (Monday)
and 15 of those were not particularly relevant (imho). While I
appreciate the forum and a great deal of the information it provides, I
would not be able to deal with this e-mail volume if I were a student or
still in the work force. For some, "the quantity may simply outweigh
the quality" which may limit the list outreach.
