Another thing to consider (not to blame the equipment, but....) is the
mouthpiece. You can sometimes find mouthpieces that are just not "reed
friendly". If a player finds that it is extremely difficult to find any
workable reeds, this should be considered. I have played some
mouthpieces over the years that could sound great, but only when I
found that one or two reeds in a dozen that worked.
