Men (and occasionally women) come to my home dressed in raincoats
(a peculiar enough thing for California) and turbans. Often the
men (and occasionally the women) have moustaches.

They have little packages, boxes, containers, all beautifully
wrapped in silk, and they say, "Effendi, we wish to give you
tribute for your nobility, decency, and knowledge."

I accept these things because it is my duty to disperse happiness
to these poor benighted individuals. Who knows from whom and how
they got them. Mostly they are family treasures passed from from
father to son (or mother to daughter, father to daughter, mother
to son, uncle to ... you get the idea) for seven times seven
generations. What can I do? It is my destiny to be great.

So I must get disperse these gifts, elsewise my poor and humble
70-room castle wouldst collapse or burst at the seams.

Some of my social and economic equals (of which there are very
few) build and endow museums to house their tribute. Why my old
fried, Max Metropolitan built both an art museum and a natural
history museum in New York City. It was when he installed a
dinosaur in the latter museum and claimed cultural supremacy that
I fully realized the poverty of his inferior genealogy. A
dinosaur, indeed.

I, on the other hand, do not hide these things from the world.
Instead I sell them and give money to the poor starving children.

That Chedeville mouthpiece will feed one child for 17 years. A
Buffet R13 will bring a dowry to an otherwise unmarriagable girl
who has a wart.

Such is my greatness, greatness that Allen Levin seeks but naer
willst find.

Now I go to meditate. I have more mouthpieces, clarinets, halvah
to sell on ebay. I also have stock in ebay.

You may call me "Effendi."

Either you have one of the world's great junk drawers - or you're
fencing
this stuff.
