Kathy does feel that way and I made suggestions as per her feelings. I
would dare suggest she doesn't know the band director, either, but the goal
here is to make Kathy feel more comfortable about the safety of her
daughter's clarinet rather than to worry about how and why a band director
reacted. He reacted the way he did and she, not being happy with that
reaction, asked the list for other solutions.

My suggestion was geared towards a way she might go about creating an
environment she would feel her daughter's clarinet would be safe in. I
suppose I should have just suggested she spend a lot of money on a lockable
case, it would certainly have saved me grief, but we all know how useful
those are. Or, perhaps her daughter should just carry her clarinet around
with her. Good thing she doesn't play tuba!
