It should also be mentioned that joints from different clarinets often
don't match each other --- variations in bore, tone hole diameters &
positions, etc --- and hence the 'composite' instrument doesn't play
well.
There may even be an educational 'silver lining' to the incident. I've
never tried it myself, and so I don't know how 'bad' such mix-and-match
clarinets can be ???
