Seattle's alternative chamber music group Quake presents The Best
of Quake. The first performance of Quake's 2004-05 season showcases three
pieces from Quakes repertoire and begins with the West-Coast premier of
Chinary Ung's Oracle.

Following the electrified and beautiful Oracle, the group is
joined by Seattle Symphony Bassoonist Paul Rafanelli for Eric Satie's Three
Pieces in the Shape of a Pear arranged by Quake pianist Meade Crane.

The second half opens with Quake's stirring composition
9066. Joined by visual artist John Pai, 9066 is a moving piece about the
U.S. internment of Japanese-Americans without charge during World War
II. Combining visual art with pre-recorded sound, speach, pre-recorded
music, improvisation, traditional American and Japanese music, Noh music,
and Jazz, 9066 is a powerful and moving piece. The concert will close with
Jennifer Higdon's exquisitely beautiful wissahickon poeTrees, a piece
relating to seasonal impressions from a park in Philadelphia.

Quake's 2004-2005 season has them moving to Tuesday night concerts
in Seattle. In February, they will present Musicircus - a concept of
multiple performances by John Cage, and in May, New European Masters.
Quake presents non-traditional concerts throughout the Northwest
to the delight of audiences. Often combining music with dance, spoken
word, visual art, and theater, Quake presents interesting and memorable
performances for all, regardless of their concert-going experience. Quake
includes current and former members of such divergent groups as the Kronos
Quartet, Metropolitan Opera, Seattle Symphony Orchestra, the "Jazz Talk"
Octet, the University of Washington faculty, and the rock band Relative
Sight. Hailed in the Tacoma Reporter for "...creating entirely new and
amazing performance experiences," Quake continues to engage audiences with
its rich and varied repertoire, superior musicianship, and sense of
humor. The core members are: Meade Crane - piano, Ella Marie Gray -
violin, Walter Gray - 'cello, Don Immel - trombone, Sean Osborn - clarinet,
Susan Telford - flute, and Rob Tucker - percussion. More information is
