But, Walter, that's one hallmark of a mediocre conductor (I've played for
lots of them). Everyone is either flat or not soft enough. These are the two
easiest things for a conductor to say who can't think of anything else. Most
of the time they haven't listened to a note you've played - they figured it
out in their study at home.
