I think the key with those who are used to 440 don't realize that there
are as many troubles bringing pitch down as much as playing 442- or above.

IN France the pitch was 442 when I was there, but in a recent conversation
with Desplus he felt there was a movement to bring it down. This he felt was
due to "conductors used to 440" more than the orchestral players.
