Actually, "Low Pitch" IS A=440. The term was used to differentiate from
"High Pitch" which was in that A=455-451 range. Instruments made shortly
after the international A=440 standard was established were marked "Low
Pitch" or "LP" (or just "L"), or "High Pitch" ("HP" or "H") since both were
being made at the time. Some people still needed High Pitch instruments so
they could play along with the rest of their group that had High Pitch
instruments. Eventually everyone switched over, and by the 1940's it was
no longer necessary to mark instruments.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is TOO LOUD!
