I see on Fred Weiner's catalogue that he refers to having studied with
Moennig. I believe that Albert Alphin talks of having apprenticed with
or studied with Moennig. I have also been told that Alvin Swiney was an
apprentice to Moennig. I don't know at all what the real situation was
for any of the above. I am sure that they could each tell you a lot
about it. I suppose in some cases in the repair world, it may not be
much different than those people who take one or two lessons with
famous clarinet player X and then s/he shows up on the resume as the
major teacher. :-)
