Size certainly should not matter provided that the students are working with
proper fundamentals...proper support, posture, breathing and embouchure. In
fact, the very same elements that many players take for granted in their own
technique.

However, I have found younger players do need equipment that is more suited
to there individual needs and so a good teacher has to have an open mind and
choose equipment which is bit more player freindly.
