As if to prove my own point (that was what I was thinking, honest!) the
above might probably be more clear as C''' or C3 and C'''' or C4.

Unless you start at O, and then my quoted statement was correct. Or we
could start with the lowest C on the bass clef staff (and still debate
whether or not to start at 0), but I think this method is now out of
fashion at least in reference to higher instruments.

Maybe I should just use (not so) "technical" terms and say thumb C and
really screechy high C.

I always hated this part of orchestration, someone save me. Please.
