Nick,

Band adjudication is a staggering political game I'm really not willing to
take the time to expound on.

I will suggest, however, that you take a moment to consider what it would
be like to be a judge at one of these festivals. Consider that you would
have to make comments, on the fly, which can help the band and band
director but hopefully not offend anyone. Consider that you get exactly one
shot to listen to this band. And, most of all, consider how difficult it is
to explain to anyone who is open to constructive criticism how to "fix the
problems" never mind in a one way tape where you have to take into account
(again, on the fly) that you may offend the recipient of the tape.

OK, I guess I was willing to expound on it.

PS: If you really want to someone to explain how to fix the problems, you
should hire one of the judges to come work with your band. Preferably the
one who was hardest on you.
