Paquito D'Rivera did, however. His "Adagio" covered the tune from Out =
of
Africa . . . ;-)

I don't think this was "hooked on classics" genre - much more like the
Stravinsky's "act of love" regarding Punchinella that Tony Pay posted. =20

Clearly, Paquito didn't preserve that which we hold Mozart dear -
structurally, an entirely different piece. As many other works of jazz =
that
borrow a tune, though, a paean to the original. Pretty fun stuff, even =
