Subj: FW: [kl] learning to transpose on the fly
Date: Wed, 27 Oct 2004 23:00:44 -0400

My teacher started my on the C transposition by making me play etudes =
that I
was studying up a tone. As someone mentioned, I too get so used to
transposing that remembering when to stop transposing is sometimes a
problem.

However, years later I took up bassoon, and learning tenor clef was a =
real
chore. I soon mastered the upper end of tenor clef, as that is where it =
is
most commonly used, but everynow and then I'd get some music that was in =
the
bottom range of tenor clef. When I finally realized I could just read
treble clef down a tone, life became much easier! =20
