Heh! Humor aside, I believe that "plot ideas" are not copyrightable by
themselves. I believe that it's "the expression of an idea" that is
copyrighted --- that is, a detailed proposal or a completed work or
whatever. Thus two authors could write books which portrayed that
Salieri poisoned Mozart without being in violation of each other's
copyrights.
At least, that's how I understand it.
