Yep, on the Hogwood recording it's a period recreation (by Daniel
Bangham and Ted Planas, I think). It's discussed in the liner notes.
If I recall correctly they took a copy of a Kaspar Tauber clarinet and
made an extension to it.
I emailed Tony to ask about that instrument one time, and he had some
interesting comments to make about the design process and some of the
issues they faced regarding getting a working instrument when (at the
time) there were no known models to follow.
