Interesting faux pas on my part. I thought about it over lunch. Why did I
not realize that it was a basset horn?
1. I was listening while working in my office, thus being inattentive.
2. My computer speakers are lousy.
3. I do remember thinking: "Boy, he's got a lot of extra extension keys
on that thing."
4. Tony plays so very well that the timbrel quality of his basset horn
sounds like a very natural extension of the basset clarinet - or vice versa.
I've decided that it was No.1.
