I would submit that the children of Tony Pay have a distinct advantage
whether you want to see yourself as a teacher figure to them or not. Not
every child is so lucky and as such your anecdotal experience hardly proves
the rule.

Given your understandable indecision, would you openly criticize a soloist
who did accept such an engagement with either a band or a modern (I'm not
going to take a pot shot at your use of the word "standard") orchestra?
