I agree (fwiw). In December I will take an examination for assistant band
conductor. As examination band I will bring with me the local Maartensdijk
wind band "kunst & genoegen", Art & Joy, with much joy and but little art.
For the introduction piece I decided to use Bruckner's motet "Locus Iste",
as I will have two children in the band with less than 1 year and a half of
playing experience. There is a wind band arrangement, but with the band I
have at my disposal that is rather unsatisfactory. So now I am rearranging
it (transcribing it?).In my arrangement I try to follow Bruckner as close as
possible, but at times the flute, first clarinet and soprano saxophone will
go up an octave, the B-flat bass player will go down an octave. But of
course i will not add notes not fitting into the chords Bruckner wrote. And
because I need a snare drum and a bass drum in another piece I will give
them a few beats also in Locus Iste, but in places they can do no harm!
