You have a point there. If you look at the table you see that (with the
exception of guitar, trumpet, and drums) girls outnumber boys in every
category (recorder and saxophone being too close to call). Perhaps a
better interpretation would be: Of girls and boys, girls are more likely
to take music lessons than boys.

I remember a guest on the Phil Donahue show (a US syndicated talk show
from some years back) claiming he first suspected his son was gay when
he took an interest in piano lessons. My Dad (retired big band leader
and private piano teacher) went through the roof when he heard this!!
